We switch back to Fluffy for the afternoon shortly after lunch. Her nest is empty, but eventually she returns for another period of egg cuddling. She frequently goes nest mining - by that we mean that she is head down in the bottom of the nest - presumably she is looking for parasites.

Before leaving the nest, Fluffy often goes through a stretching routine. Just as when she was doing nesting wriggles in an empty nest box all those weeks ago, she stretches first one wing and then the other before finally deciding to depart.
First a left wing stretch - and then a right wing stretch . . .
. . and then she finally leaves the nest!
The deteriorating weather put a dampener on bluetit activity and both of our birds were tucked up for the night fairly early.
