If you remember, last night we thought Fluffy left the chicks by themselves overnight for the first time. Fortunately, that was confirmed this morning when the first image the external camera picked up was Fluffy bringing some food to the nest box.
Here
she is at the entrance with a small green caterpillar in her beak. The
time is five past five!
|
Barney
arrives only a short while later at twenty past five.
|
The
chicks are getting more and more active. At home we watch the goings
on in the nest on our TV as well as on the computer so that we can get the
sound from the nest box as well as pictures.
Today there has been a frequent whirr of wings as one chick or another puts in some flapping practice. |
Two
chicks seem to have been out of the nest cup more than the others. Of
course, we cannot be certain that's it's always the same two, but we think
it's likely!

While
one of the pair did some preening (the chicks near the top of the nest cup
seem to be continually preening themselves these days) the other was taking
an intense interest in the exit hole.
