Today, Kelly left us in little doubt about the number of eggs that she has. Babe seems to have forgotten that she built the nest in such a rush for a purpose.
There
are quite a few eggs there. Come on girl, move over a bit more so we can
see them!
|
Which
she obligingly did - but there could be more hidden by her tail.
|
That's
better. Definitely six eggs! The time is 6.08am so she must have
laid the sixth fairly recently.
|
Yes -
still exactly six eggs.
|
It's
nice to know that Babe and Ferdinand still seem to be a couple, even if
there are no eggs from Babe yet.
Babe is clearly listening to something. |
And
here you can see what! These two pictures were taken at the same time
and seem to show our great tits conversing.
Perhaps Babe will start laying tomorrow!

We went to Bushy Park (near Hampton Court) yesterday and all the oak trees there appeared well past the bud burst stage. Ours seem very late by comparison. I've just had a good look and can see no trace of the buds greening at all! This is relevant because the tits feed their young on little green caterpillars which grow on oak tree leaves - no green leaves, no caterpillars and no well fed chicks! |
Finally
today, just to gloat, another picture of Kelly's six eggs. Today, she has finally
allowed us to see them clearly. Many thanks Kelly!
