Today is overcast with intermittent drizzle. No wonder our birds have spent longer in their nest that usual!
Claire
soon put our minds at rest about her eggs. Clearly she has been laying
one in the early hours of each morning since we discovered the first egg.
She now has four as can clearly be seen in this photo. |
To
our amazement, at just before 11 o'clock this morning Claire decided that it
was time she had a rest. I suddenly noticed that she was curled up
inside the nest box with her head under her wing. I cannot remember
seeing that before in the middle of the morning! |
Kate
has been teasing us even more. She keeps bringing in more black and
white feathers with the result that we cannot make out what her nest looks
like at all! In fact it is sometimes difficult to distinguish Kate
herself from the nesting material even when she is in the nest!In this image, she has briefly moved aside to let us glimpse one of her eggs. But how many others are there? |
Here
are two - but are they two more or is one of them the one we saw earlier?
I fancy there are three as there would be if she has been laying one each
day like Claire. No doubt we will find out eventually! |
