Bluetit Diary    Jan 2007 (3)

Tuesday 2nd January (part2)

The garden is full of birds at the moment.  Sometimes I cannot resist adding a few non blue/great tit pictures.

One of our star visitors to the Fat Feeder.  So although he hasn't taken the bird box he has not left us entirely!

He can squeeze inside too!

Coal tits are not as frequently seen in our garden as the bluetit or great tit, but they do come sometimes.  We will see them regularly for a period and then not for weeks!

We have a frequent visitor at the moment.  Here he is at the fat feeder.

Five years back we had a robin's nest in the hedge near our back door.

We regularly see several robins in the garden throughout the year.  During the breeding season we sometimes get two or even three pairs visiting the window feeder where we offer mealworms when they have chicks to feed.   We have only have had a nest on that one occasion but that doesn't stop robins coming from all directions to take the mealworms for their chicks.  The year after our robin's nest, we discovered that one had raised a brood in our neighbour's shed.

Perhaps Robbie is trying to tell me something?

I thought you might like to see how the camera outside Box1 has been installed.  It is between 2½ and 3 feet straight in front of the box.  Click on the image for a bigger version.

The camera is a Sony IR LED Day/Night camera.
