Rosie
or Will leaving the Box3. It is impossible to tell from this view
which it is! |
This
is Will giving the chicks a feed. Surprisingly, it is unusual to see
all 5 chicks at the same time. They are probably so well fed that one
of them is always too full to bother begging for more food! |
Well,
here you can see 5 chicks, even if a couple of them appear too full to
bother. The chick at the top right has just had a mealworm stuffed
down its throat by Will, and it is still struggling to swallow it! |
Will
with another mealworm. When you compare the size of the mealworm with
the size of the chick, you can see why it is often a struggle to get it
down! The parents always seem to process the mealworm in some way before bringing it to the nest. I've always presumed this is to ensure that it has had its head and in particular its eating parts removed before being offered to the chicks. |
