A rare moment of calm for all nine chicks. They must be well fed!
They all look very mature. It is difficult to believe that they won't fledge for several days yet. However, none of them has yet left the nest cup and that must happen before they leave the nest!
It is difficult to imagine how this instinctive behaviour evolved. Chicks behave like this from their first poo. However, it clearly is a major help in keeping the nest box clean and disease free.
Away flies the parent depositing the parcel of poo well away from the nest box.
