I suppose a woodpecker has to get food to feed its chicks from somewhere.  I just wish it wasn't at the expense of my nestlings!

Before it flew off, the woodpecker collected some of the bedding material, so clearly any chick still in the box and huddling down near the exit hole would have been at risk.  We were lucky!
